Ok. So I was misinformed. I thought that the nose cone would actually shorten it.

When you say shorten the rod that is in there does it need to be cut or simply move it ahead by 7mm?

Well I found a donor car. It is a 91 GTI with the 1.8 and digi II. Only 160,000 kms on it. One owner car and every receipt since new. Rust got to the floors and front strut towers real bad.
