the rack is from a GM Vauxhall Astra ,

ive done a similar conversion to my 58split , the only drawback is your van is left hand drive and the conversion works well with a rhd astra rack.

i would be swayed towards moving the transmission forwards an inch or 2.
every inch will improve handling, and its not too much of an issue with the 1302/3 shafts.

There are no forces pushing the engine and gear box apart
