Thanks for the info. Mine is also totally bolt on for RHD, and requires only very minor plastic trim modifications for LHD. If theirs is electro hydraulic, then what I'm working on will still have a number of unique selling points.....

Should have a speed sensitive assistance version up and running soon. Testing has shown that while not essential, this will make it very much better.

hi chaps...im back with some progress...and its good news whether your combining a rack and EPAS column like me or a VW box and column as both use the same rubber donut set up.

i finally mounted the rack with some proper braketry - the key to getting equal lock is to get the link arm at 90 degrees to the idler....lots of measuring and thinking and then i made some proper brakets and mounted the rack (obviously irrelevant if your using the OG steering box)

now i could turn attention to the link: The corsa colum uses a short splined link with a UJ on either end (available on ebay for a few quid if you dont have one). i discovered the spline allows it to be easily seperated into two parts - male and female. This is the female part - the part that needs modifying:

The VW and rascal both use a rubber donut....the original colums mount onto this with a simple plate and two bolts.....so i trimmed the bottom of the bottom UJ and welded on a plate drilled with holes to mount to the rubber donut. i welded this inside and out. If your not a confident welder get this done professionally - you really dont want it to shear.

To prevent damage to the UJ you have to do short blasts and then Cool it in water or the heat will seize the UJ. The end result is as above - a UJ with a bolted plate on the bottom.

All pretty easy?? well it gets easier. Vauxhall kindly designed the male and female splines so they slide up and down giving about 4 inches of adjustment Grin

. So when I rejoined the female with the male half of the link all i had to do was connect the top half to the corsa EPS rack and then tap the female section down the male until it engaged with the Rack spline. Bolt it up...job done.

rjes-count me in for one of your kits asap!!!!
Dodgy wrists after a bike accident and this is the one thing that spoils my van! Well that and AAZ lumps that keep on giving up the ghost on me!!!
What sort of price would we be looking at for the basic system without speed sensors?

Can anyone help with electric connections to the ECU, its a corsa unit Ive fitted to my 72 bay van, from the ECU there are 5 fine gauge wires that connect to the control module and 2 heavy gauge wires (red and brown), where do these 2 wires go ?

yeah i did see it but the way i understood what he said was that the pics are only the temperary brackets,

naturally i wouldnt mind not knowing how it was done, but my kombi is my daily driver so i cant pull it appart to try and fit the column in.. i need to know what i need to go it, and do it all at once.. Happy

666- not much has changed from the above pics - the framework is still a temporary set up but it will just be refined and properly welded to make it final. As JP says i will use Corsa stalks and subaru ignition module...you dont HAVE to do this though.

I have just rememebred that you want more pics of the rack mounting etc - i will try to do this tonight!

awsome, and yeah id preffer to use the corsa stalks myself anyway, out with the old and in with the new haha, it would go well with my Toyota V8 Engine :P
