Highly unlikely, but if anyone reading happens to be (or to know) an electronics engineer with CAN bus experience, and who would be interested in a possible one off job, please get in touch.

The job would involve building a sensor which measures vehicle speed via a pole wheel and a hall effect sensor, and converting this into a CAN bus output. It will also involve identitfying the relevant CAN bus signal in a Subaru and copying it's identity so it can be reproduced by the new sensor.

I imagine CAN interfaces with a 'simple' microprocessor on board are probably available off the shelf, and that this job would involve buying one, a bit of analysis, and a bit of programming? However, digital electronics ate totally beyond me (I can understand volts, frequencies, PWM, etc), so maybe this is a case of a (very) little knowledge about CAN bus being dangerous?

Thanks,

I think I have someone lined up to help with this now. However, if anyone hapopens to read who has a knowlwedge of either generic automotive CAN bus standards, or in particular those used by Subaru, and is prepared to help it may be useful. I know it's probably not very likely, but you never know! Thanks.

Have you sent the same question to the Legacy forum or any of the Imprza clubs, Nasioc for example?
