Hi Rich.
I believe you might be making a batch of subaru splined input shafts for the 091 box? If so what price would these be and when do you think they will available?

rich... first time i've heard about this subaru spline input shafts, does this enable you to use a subaru friction plate ?

will you have to rebuild the box to put these in ? dont know much about boxes....

will you have to rebuild the box to put these in ? dont know much about boxes.... Assuming it's already fitted, you'll need to take the bell housing off, and to swap a few parts, but no further gearbox dismantling than that should be needed.

i shall keep this subaru performance friction plate then, was gonna sell it as i thought it was lost..

I now have the first batch of gearbox input shafts with Subaru splines.
I asked the machinists to use the strongest material possible, as they have a lot of experience making "unbreakable" motorsport drive shafts. I expected something like EN24, but on asking what grade they've used, it's actually an exotic alloy steel which they import from the US. They won't tell me the actual grade / heat treatment spec, but did tell me what type of steel it is. It's main use is aerospace / military applications, but I eventually found some info on Google which is more relevant to this application.
Check out http://78.129.134.100/~redvicto/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22&Itemid=34 , between 1/3 and 1/2 way down. I don't know whether the grade is identical, but it's the same steel type in the same application, here suitable for 2500 bhp. The downside is the exotic material has made them a bit more expensive than I hoped, but if you're racing, the higher spec is worth it, right????

The shafts will be for sale as soon as Doppelganger has tested one with far more bhp than I have available, attached to a 240mm STi paddle clutch, with slicks.
If anyone has an application in which they will be running way over 300 bhp, using slicks and a race clutch, I may be interested in you trying one of these shafts to prove them at a higher horsepower.

have a chat to DC, he says his new engine is producing inexcess of 500bhp with an 091.

strange way of doing it these days with people like rich doing the superb bellhosuings...

cant understand why other people havn't done belhousing adapters for other engines.... much simpler in my eyes

Thanks for the suggestion. DC did enquire about a bell housing a long time ago, but I think he obtained an adaptor plate for the right price, or similar.
Maybe the need for a bigger clutch / lighter pedal will make him see the light with 500 + bhp!
