Porsche 996 Gt3 gen.II discs and calipers on a ->'65VW Bug with disc spindels.(CB droppeds spindles wont work, the calipers are simply to big.
Some pics of the build up...
turned down and redrilled VW Bug hubs
The GT3 350mm large disc fits nicely over the hub, only modification needed is to drill and tap new holes in the hub to attach the disc
rear view
had to see how it looked before the caliper brackets were made
fitted with custom brackets (the brackets for a 996 turbo caliper are not big enough)
et voila...
Wheels are 18 inch BBS Le Mans, I do not think a 17 inch wheel will clear this brake setup
Rear setup to follow soon.[/img] |

Rear GT3 discs are also mounted but no calipers yet, will go with a hydraulic handbrake to make things easier for me.

Looking awesome mate, what sort of costs are you looking at for that? i'm guessing thousands rather than hundreds?
Cheers Ian. |

| It certainly isn't cheap, Porsche parts will total about 2500 euro + custom brackets and hubs (already had the hubs) but the brackets will be around 750 euro's front+rear. |

custom rear caliper mounts are finally done, here's the end result.
Brake setup is now complete ( including a Porsche 944 MC) but how it will perform I'll know when the car is completely restored and painted in a few months.

Now you are talking proper brakes! Would like something like this on my bus when I finally get it! Got some 996 Turbo rear disks in the garage from when I had a 996tt, so first part of many collected!
What hubs are you using? Where can i get some machined etc. to fit with the 996 discs etc?
