Sad Hi there.
Iam in the process of fitting a Vw Golf 1.9 td aaz lump into my 76 Bay Panel and was after some advise on fitting a 1303 box I have. I have all the parts from Kennedy for the conversion but having removed my van gearbox I have noticed that the van inner joints are larger than the 1303 box joints.
Are the inner joints interchangeable; ie can I just fit 1303 inners to my van driveshafts?
Or, do I swithch the gaerbox flanges?
Or, do I fit early type shafts?
Help!!
Cheers for any info.
Mike.

I am fitting it to obtain a higher final drive. This will only be a temporary measure while i have my van box rebuilt with a taller final drive. Or did you mean the TD lump?

the proper 091 bay box would be stronger but if this is temporary measure use 90mm bug inner cv joints with a spacer washer on the inside off the joint on the driveshaft to take the slack up like with the type2 style irs kit on a splitty or buy a pair of later irs trekker driveshaft flanges for the gearbox 50 pound each i belive from the dealers

will the kennedy flywheel & ring gear fit inside the 03 box without fouling? the 03 bell housing is tiny compaired to the 091 and will your starter fit?

Thanks for the advice, Just one last query. Will the bug inner cv's fit my bay shafts? Just wondered, as the bay joint flanges on the box are larger, will the drive shafts also be larger?

Kennedy flywheel fits fine while trial fitting everything. Haven't tried the starter yet though. May require a little trickery!

Also, would an 090 box be what was in my van as standard or is that the 2 litre box? Any idea what the final drive would be?

bug cv joints fit the bay shaft (same splines) as i have this set up on my irs splitty 90mm bug inners on 1303 box and 100mm outers on bay stub axles. the box will be a 002 or 091 dependent on what the original engine was in your bay i believe the 002 was with the 1600 and 091 with the 2000 i might be wrong im sure someone will be along soon who nows more about bays than me

yes the 091 was the 2ltr box.
TBh i wouldnt bother going to the hassle of putting in the 03s box - bay 1600 boxes are cheap and fairly available and would save you a lot of messing about if its just a temp fix whilst yours is being rebuilt.
The 03s box is also smaller so you would probably have to mess with the linkage and mounting as well as driveshafts.
