will try and dig out some pics of my old bay ,, pug 205 dt rad fits in place of engine hatch with just a small gap , bit tight but i could just get battery in,,,,,,, then got 405 d rad fans , on its frame cut the frame right down and fixed these to the inside of rad ,, with wires just to connect strait to battery .... next found a kamie front spoiler from a 1303 fit this to front and cut to large slots in it bit like shape of bmw kidney grill ,then duct it down old heater pipes ,,,,, very good but at speeds upto and above 80 the fans on constant ,,next bay,,,,,,, range rover 200 tdi rad nice un square fit at front in spare wheel cover off a shogun,,,,, _________________ Auto Union Munga Jeep ,T4 2.4td , T4 2.5tdi ,Mercedes S Class on LPG , 66 splity deluxe , GP mk1, 3 type 25s 1 with 1.9dt pug engine + 1 with N/A pug engine ,,there are 6 t25s with pug power in Darlington
Here's a protype of a front mount radiator, It's a protptype because the next one is gonna be smaller! If you are interessted in the how-to/details let me know!
I'm new but have not seen the Pontiac Fiero radiator pictured here yet. That's what I ue in Roadcow ince it was designed to be canted back at an angel. It has the cooling fins angled not perpendicular to the radiator but are designed to let the airflow go straight through it with the radiator leaned back at an angel. Don't know if you got them in the UK ( Fieros) but I ship containers of VW parts and Busses to ireland and could stuff a few in if they would be of use.

That rad sounds ideal! I know over here we've got the toyota mr2 which has a sloping rad - no idea if the fins are sloping to match?
Here's my rad setup - no idea whether it's going to work. It's got an aluminium vw transporter rad and fans and an escort expansion tank with two top outlets. It's pretty strong so I can load it up with stuff or even sit up there if I felt the need. It is pretty heavy though.
Can't wait to see if it'll work! And i need to get some copper tubing up there......

Hey guys, thought I'd share the photos of my front rad set up in my split bus.
It works a treat, in fact a little too well at times. Still yet to test it in the middle of summer but I'll let you know how I get on.
It consists of 2 Rover Metro rads laid flat under the front of the bus around where the front beam should be.
Both rads are fitted with a 50mm deep duct and the front rad has 2 small sucker fans on top from a Honda VFR 750 motorbike.
The rear rad has the standard 12" metro fan fitted as more space was available.
I have also fitted a secondary water pump that works on a variable thermostat that can be set to come on at whatever temp you like. I have set it to come on at 95C and this on its own cools water temp when in stop/start traffic. All the fans operate from the Rover factory temp switches built into the rads and come on around 105C.
Finally I have fitted a 25 row Mocal oil cooler via an oil stat and sandwich plate off the stock oil filter location.

The above set up was working very well during the winter and spring but as things have warmed up it has been struggling.
A quick rethink and I came up with the following
the hole all done, but yet to tidy up the edges and finish off with paint
Direct access to the rad
Quick scoop made from some sheet that was lying around
And here it is in place
This improved the cooling but with the bumper in place it was back to square one, so I have modified the bumper and number plate. More on this later
Really nice to read all the comments and see all your pics. Gotten some ideas from them as well. I'm still working on my 1979 T2 conversion to a Subary EA82 engine. Already installed an oil cooler in the front bumper.
I've tried on the side of the engine bay, at the rear of the engine bay, under floor and have had problems with them all. I've finally given up trying to hide the rad and am going to build a front mounted spare wheel styleee type of radiator, jsut as soon as I've repaired the headgasket on my van again!
