just an addendum to my poorly spelt post above - if we need to do H&S risk assessments and fire extinguishers, reckon i could sort a lot if not all of this as i'm buddies with my H&S dept at work and i'm sure i could relieve some extinguishers from our stores for a weekend.... _________________ '79 Bay running citroen 1.9td and phat tyres! |

I'm up for displaying again this year, asuming no one minds the the same van two years running. ( It's got bigger brakes this year!)
Camping might be a bit trickey, its the mother-in-laws 70th birthday that weekend, not sure I will get a full weekend pass, but I will work on it. _________________ 66 Camper with 2.2 Subaru

JP, did you have any luck with vanfest?
Been on their site today and e-mailed about displaying my van, noticed that the pre booking for camping closes on July 31st, so we haven't got much time left. _________________ 66 Camper with 2.2 Subaru

Just got all the trade booking forms through for Vanfest. I've also got a customer who really wants to display his new conversion on my stand (a pretty impressive single cab EJ25 T25), but having just done a few sketches of the stand layout, I don't have room. I'm going to recommend he gets it into into the alternative engine display instead.
I'm also about to book up camping tickets for various mates of mine, most of whom are alternate engine types, and at least one will be in an EJ20 powered van. We were considering club camping, but have never bothered with it at Vanfest before, and can't be bothered with all the H&S stuff - its enough hassle for the trade stand. Camping together is never too much of a problem in general camping at Vanfest. However, last year I did feel bad that I never got to see some people from vwkd's conversions all weekend as I was stuck on the trade stand. It'd be cool to camp with you lot , then I'd get to see any other conversions which are there in the evenings. Not sure from this thread whether there is going to be VWKD club camping or not, but if there is and it's not too late, I could probably fill a few more spaces.
I'm sure it will be too late though, as all this advance booking by the enf of July is a total pain. I haven't got over the hassle of booking club camping for Bug Jam yet! _________________ Regards,

I think the plan is to go into general camping and try and park up next to each other... this will probably require a few of us to meet up en-route/outside the gates so we can try and park together nicely spaced so any coming later can fill in the gaps.
Last time I tried to do this the attendants doing the parking got a bit funny telling us to park closer ! so I guess see how it goes... you kinda have to blag you got a 20ft awning that fits on the side of your camper _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

We did exactly that last year, reserving space at Friday lunch time for others coming in the evening, with no intervention from anyone official at all. We did turn away plenty of other people who wanted to camp in 'our' space, but it wasn't any problem. We were towards the back of the site, Maybe we were just lucky not to see any officials telling us where we could / could not camp? _________________ Regards,

I think I've been bullied into going.
I won't be displaying cos I don't get up before mid-day at the earliest!
Anyone up for a cheeky surf at Llangenith after? _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.
