Hi Rich, just wondering if you have any news on how the new shaft in the darkside performed at the weekend?
Cheers Ian. |

Cheers DG. 'Thanks' for breaking your car in the process of testing the shaft! That's an extreme test!
Split-trix - yes, that's what happened. I didn't see it, but I saw the aftermath of broken bits. DG was very lucky that although the cooler broke away with a piece of block attached, it had broken cleanly, with enough thread still in the block. A modified cooler / filter pipe, and the block is still usable without rebuilding.
It must have hooked up very well for the filter to hit the track. I imagine it'll hook up even better still once you have the new clutch disc too.
I must get the shafts on the web site now.....
Please tell Beanie thanks very much for the blob of epoxy putty too when you see him. A bit of quality bodging got my mate's new conversion home with no oil leaks at all after losing most of the oil on the way into Santa Pod. _________________ Regards,

yes the same as daz (omex) i already have the engine and the ecu just needed to know i could put a clutch on that would take the power and after the bugjam testing session i can but ill only be doing it 1/4 mile at a time with the anti lag _________________ vwdrc class rep

The Subaru splined shafts are available now. I've just been writing the web page about them this evening (not yet on line).
I left the material choice up to the manufacturer, asking for the best available after he'd originally quoted me. The exotic material he's used has made them more expensive then I wanted, but they're made from the same material which he makes 'unbreakable' drive shafts from. It's something like 4 times more resistant to fatigue than more common high strength shaft steels. Ideal for high powered drag cars, and a very similar (or possibly the same) grade as used in redvictor1 - the quickest road car in the world's input shaft.
The shafts kits cost £195. I may investigate getting some more made in a less exotic material if there is enough demand, and they work out significantly cheaper. _________________ Regards,
