Hey guys,

out of interest if i went with turbo(s) on a scooby engine in my Oval do i HAVE to have the intercooler near the engine?

Or

Could i run the intercooler in the front of the Oval?

If i did run it in the front of the car does anyone know if/how this would efffect the running of the engine/turbo(s)?

Many thanx for taking the time to answer/help out

Cheers

Mario Grin

You'll be looking at major turbo lag and horrible throttle response.

Imagine everytime you got open the throttle and wound the turbo up you'll be waiting for the charged air to travel the lehgth of the car twice. what size ducting would you use too????

You need a charge cooler.... basically uses water to as the cooling medium as opposed to using ram air.

Intercooler is Air to air

charge cooler is water to air.

you'll have two coolant lines running front to back and have a small rad up front cooling the water.

Plenty of pics of my charger cooler on my thread

Or you can hunt down the components from a Legacy fitted with a chargecooler.

it was the early legacy's (pre bonet hump), not sure on the years though. you cen get them for about £50 on ebay normally. i've got one for my crewcab... my bug is using an intercooler, with naca ducts in the back side window and ducting to the IC - but mines probably a LOT more chopped up than youll want to do with your oval.

found the legacy charge cooler on internet now Grin it fits where the intercooler would go on a impezza turbo, looks like a good little unit to fit a impezza motor if it was in something rear engined
