I need to give my insurance company the engine number of the 2.2 legacy engine in my bug.

Any idea where I can find it or how it's normally made up so I know what I'm looking for?

Had a quick nosy with no joy Sad

On the turbo engines it's on the top of the block by the bellhousing, unfortunately the intercooler brackets covers half of it which is a pain, might be in a similar position for NA tho?

Hmmm, any idea what the format is? Like how many numbers etc.

I'v seen a few codes around the engine but not sure whether any of them are the right one!

iirc its about eight digits probally with a couple of zeros to start no letters, as ricola says top of the bellhousing around the starter motor area / or if you have a reversed coolant manifold the exit end for that. looking from top of the engine that is.

does it not say on you registration docs you could double check against that??

I'v got the V5 for the original vehicle that the motor came out of, but the number is not on there.

It's not on my documents and I can't find it on the engine anywhere.

Great Sad
