can the 2.2 L subaru legacy engine be put into a 78 vw bus?? or only into vanagons from the 80's...

Well, any motor fit. It's just a matter of work hours...

Yes, with some small modifications it's "pretty easy". The best thing to do is to flip the main water pipe and the inlet manifold. It will be a lot esier to put everything together, but you can actually have the motor in without the mod's too.

Yes. I did it with an EJ20 -> 78.

Don't bother flipping the water manifold, it's grief and really not worth the hassle

You'll find my converion on in here, starts around page 18 and works back to 17 or so.
