MOT- Do I have to have a indicator light on the dash?

Ok just a quick one chaps-Does my dash indicator bulb have to work for the MOT. My indicators work fine-its just the bulb doesnt work or flash on the dash?

Dunno. But when I go for my test I do the lights/indicators/wipers cos they've forgotten where the switches are

Edit: Quick Google shows this:

Hi Al - just found this out for my dads car funny enuf- MOT man told me that strictly speaking yes it should have a dash indication or audible warning....but if you can hear the relay clicking then it would count as an audible warning and therfore no light required (my MOT man said he would pass that but wouldnt count on others doing the same!)

yes it should work by law but most dont! is a 50p bulb worth a fail or a accident where someone pulls out you at a junction cause "i thought you were turning left mate"

The bulb works it just stays on all the time and doesnt flash-even though the indicators and relay are all working and flashing lovely! Thanks for the heads up guys

sounds like faulty relay then dude next time your at the boneyard find a golf and slip one in the pocket Grin

Well I got another relay from the scrap yard and still no joy with the dash indicator light! Like I said the indicators work fine but as soon as I plug the bulb in the relay starts to buzz

But if I turn the indicators on they work and the dash light works and the buzzing stops! Its almost like when the indicators are not in use there is a back current which is jibbing out the relay and making it buzz

Any one got any ideas?

Sounds like a dodgy hazard switch, my mk1 golf did this when the hazard switch packed up, indicators worked fine but buzzed when switched off and dash indicator light stayed on, changed relay, indicator stalk, dash led, then hazard switch, problem solved!!
