|
|
I'll be 'reclothing' the 77 bays outer panels, which are well rusty; needs the sill and panel thats ontop of it (well a section of), sills, and a pair of front arches and a lower nose repair panel.
I have had this bus for awhile now; did some welding on the underneath some years ago, and spunked a bit of coin on sills and other bits.
The sills (inner) seemed to be oversills with sections that are cut out for going around the outriggers -I want a complete inner sill and have cut/chiseled out the lacey originals.
Basically some of the repair panels, while dear were quite frankly a waste of money and made from thin metal.
Whats the best supplier in terms of o/e style pressed repair panels; eg the lip/pressing on the side panel over the outer sill is something I want to retain, to retain the original look...
Where do the folk on here go for their panels?
Schofield? Just camper? (bought some of their gear before )panels) and wasnt that impressed with the accuracy of the pressings.
Im not bothered in twaking the panels fit wise as I can do this, I just want panels that match the original pressings... |

Schofield, Heritage or Custom and Commercial IMHO. No specific order!
If it's available as a new part
Perhaps Mr JP should contact the above & to try and get a discount.. had some wrecks through here....

| Having just gone through this pain barrier I have to say I have not been impressed with to many of the panels I have bought. I have made as many as possible in the chassis but had to accept what was dished up for the outer panels. The roof panels and the front wheel arches were particularly poor. |

a lot of repair panels are poor or made to cover the old panel so are to big but there a something to start with at least and a bit of playing with the can often get reasonable results if you want thing to fit and last then there is only 1 way to go body cuts from dry state imports _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,
