Without knowing the details of how you intend to do your dash I'd assume your at least gonna cover the basics which are real easy to over come and tbh you shouldn't have to dig out their wires from the Subaru loom as it's much easier to start afresh.
Both the alternator and oil pressure warning lights can be run new starting at the switchs. Infact you can trace the oil light from the switch through the grey connectors and find it on the other side. Same applies to your water temperature gauge.
The rev counter is coming out from your ecu which will be easy to find on a wiring diagram. _________________ Think......

Cheers Kai,
Yeh I am hoping to use my original dash instruments for temp, I presume if I buy a new rev counter and feed it with the wire from the UCU it will work correctly?.
Nearly finished it off now. Just one thing, I did have a pink wire from the plug that fed the internal heater blower and went to the ECU, any ideas.
Thanks for the info.

Hi all,
Finally finished the wiring loom and you were right, managed to trace all the remaining wires back fom the cluster and various switchs. Hoping to use my Rev counter and temp dial in a new housing.
Its all looking good and thanks for everyones help. Also if anyone needs any info from my efforts, please give me a shout. I have taken lots of photos from the original car and its wiring.
Cheers.

you dont need barrel dude,
just the ignition ring, and have you still got the key chip? you need chip ecu and immobiliser box?
otherwise that will set you back about £150.
use the vw barrel and key _________________ 71 beetle, wrx transplant in the making. |

I've got the chip out of the key, the ecu, and the only box I have says keyless entry on it!
Do I need an antenna?? To pick up the chip reading? |

nono, around the subaru barrel was a ring about 35mm diameter. just take the chip to the inside of that barrel, then thats fine, there should be a little black box with subaru on it, thats the immobiliser box. 3 inch x 2 inch.
as long as you have that and you take the chip to ring youl be fine. _________________ 71 beetle, wrx transplant in the making. |
