Header Tank Where?

Can anyone offer advice please?

I'm fitting a ej25 engine to a splitscreen. I have fitted the radiators between the chassis underneath , and I'm using the internal heater matrix which plumbs in to the outlets on the rear of the engine.

The hot water leaves the top of the engine travels along past the cylinders (this is the highest part of the system) then heads down to the radiators over the top of the drive shaft, through the rads then returns to the engine over the OS drive shaft.
Then back down (creating an upsidown u bend let's call in an n bend) and then back to the pump.

I'm thinking for the expansion tank would it be sensible to take the feeds to and from the tank from the hot side within a few inches from the engine outlet at the highest point. On the cold side on top of the n bend its about 20 - 25 inches from the pump , but I'm thinking it would self bleed the system as would the hot side ?

The advice i have recieved on here is to put the expansion tank in the heater lines. I'm not using a heater in my split at the mo so will just plumb it in to the heater feed and return pipes at the back of the block. I have sourced a frontera expansion tank which is flow through design, i'm using this as others have, and they seem to work well.
