This may well be old news but since I'm getting back on track with my inherited n/a EJ22 conversion in a T3 I'd thought I'd share this.
While trawling through my pdf manual (1992 legacy, not quite old enough for my engine loom it seems!) and thinking that maybe I can start on the cooling system re-work at long last, I see that Turbo water pumps have two extra tails on the thermostat housing for the chargecooler connections.
This could be really useful as a "heater off" / bypass return point for T3 conversions, without resorting to using a sandwich plate under the thermostat. (subaruvanagon.com springs to mind...)

The charge cooler is completely seperate dude, has a seperate rad,tank and pump..
