Hi there,
Still going strong with building my personalized Splitvan, but hit rockbottom with certain problems concerning European legislation about the registration certificate.
At this moment my van has the original Brazilian documents from 1969 but no Dutch registration certificate, futhermore importtaxes are paid.
The rebuilding and upgrading of the van is much more then anticipated and legislation says that if you change a vehicle more then 1/3 then it is a new car, with that said i lose my old '69 documents, tax privilege and i have to comply to modernday ruling on almost every technical item.
If i had the Dutch documents i could have changed everything i would like to and would have had no problems whatsoever with licensing the car but, due to the Brazilian backround, outside the EU, the car needs to be in almost original state first.
My question, is English legislation more easier with my problem?
Lets say that i put my "project" on a transport to the UK and let them lisence my car when A: it is ready with all the upgrades,
B: as a "project" (aka Fred Flinstone's car) right now.

Nuf said, this legislation stuff is so damned technical, i hardly understand it in Dutch let alone English
Anyways, this is the state my van is right now;
Everything on and in it is undergoing upgrades and changes;
Porsche brakes and suspension, boxed chassis, drivetrain:091 + Scooby, rollcage, shaved doors, OBP inboard braking setup, bucketseats, CE steering.....etc....
If i go for to the Dutch RDW, they check if everything is according to current modernday legislation, i'll endup with a new registration certificate and it'll set me back a shitload of money but probably it won't get registered at all.
And that is only due to the fact that the van has Brazilian papers and no European ones.
