Hello everyone Hello

The bus has been running great since we picked it up over a year ago. Went to drive it today and no go!

It's running a ej22, the pump primes and turns over but doesn't fire. When the key is released the engine backfires loudly.

Any ideas?

Just had a look, the coolant is low the plugs and leads seem ok. Small hole in the exhaust, but nothing I can see that would stop it from firing?

Any suggestions on where to start.

No start is goin to be fuel or spark.

Backfiring is timing and also over fuelling.

Been plenty of stories on here of folded woodruff keys, although saying that they usually run though but are under powered. When did you last check your crank bolt?

You say the fuel pump primes, then your ecu is getting power.

Have you checked for fault codes on the ecu? If the crank sensor has failed/degraded then it won't run. You can test it by measuring the resistance between the terminals of the sensor.

Another test is to pull the fuel line and test if the engine is getting fuel. It does have fuel in the tank doesn't it? Grin
