Another "what the smeg is this adapter" thread!

Looking through the forums this seems like quite a common problem!
Decided I'm gonna have to pull the engine to figure out what's up with the clutch, but just wondered if anyone can tell what adapter this is before I pull it all out!

From what I can see of it, it looks very similar to mine (mines got a pinto hanging off it as well) which I think came from a company called GB Engineering - still going, but not interested in supplying them any more.

I seem to be developing a knack for this - bought a mini a few years back with a vauxhall engine - first job I had to do was take the engine out to do the clutch!
Now I buy a bay window (bit of an impulsive purchase!) - and the here I am again, engine out to do a clutch!!

Best of luck with it, post some pics of the adapter once its apart and I'll let you know if it is the same as mine.

Yes I would agree. it looks like one I have got lying about my garage. I think they were used by the Formula Ford racing guys that allowed them to bolt the pinto engine to the vw box. I was going to use it for my Zetec conversion until I cut up the Mondeo gearbox to make an adaptor. post more pictures and I will compare as well.

Any one want mine for a ford conversion?

Cheers for the replies guys! As I was convinced it was an engine out job I left it at a local garage a mate recommended whilst I went on hols - came back to it all fixed with no need to drop the engine - was just a bit too much flex in the temporary bodge of a master cylinder mount I'd made - only charged me £50 too which made my day

Still not perfect having camped over at Chatsworth last night, but was a relief to have it running again!
