Well guys this is a queer one...
Ej22 sohc slight head gasket leak!

All running better than ever really .... Apart from....
Once up to temp the check engine light comes on and stays on, and there seems to be a bit more vibration!
When I stop there are no error codes stored and the light stays off until its warm again! Strange??

And where's the best place to buy a gasket kit and timing belt kit ?
Any brands I should avoid?

And most importantly I'd only class myself as a medium home mechanic, should I leave doin the head gasket to a pro?? I don't want to do it twice!!

All advice greatfully received!

That is odd. Your sure you have the right connection coming out of the ecu? You tried tricking it and unplugging a sensor and testing the ecu?

I used Scooby clinic's kit for the can let and roger Clark for my head gasket. I only changed one though as the cam bearing race was fucked. It's not a hard job though once you've got the cambelt off.

If your replacing both head gaskets then upgrade to the metal type ones (I think they are metal) certai my roger Clark will advise on the best replacements. The graphite ones are horrible and prone to continuous failure, although that's what I fitted as I did the one head. Get the manual too.

( once the housemartins move out of the garage, they're shitting on everything and apparently they're endangered so I can't let the cats at them! ) Laugh Out Loud
