Fair enough ! I would think about the heat soak from your turbo and generally in the engine bay and its affect on the inter cooling it will be hot air to hot air which will affect your performance. If you aren't going big power a Subaru Legacy charge cooler would be more efficient or an aftermarket one if you have turbo upgrades etc

Hmmmmm , got spark while cranking boys but she won't start. I'll have to somehow check for fuel spray from the injectors. Any ideas on how?

Anyway to check on:

- crankshaft sensor activity
- camshaft sensor activity
- injector time
- RPM

Ok , tried a buddies LED Mac Tools test light with some Ford connectors plugged into the harness ends at the fuel injector and while cranking it strobes like I think it should. I guess now I should pull the rail and/or injectors and test them ?

Can they receive 12v for a sec ?

Any good ideas on how to test or clean them ?

Well that worked...........bus runs for the first time in 2yrs!

Motor seems to have a knock at idle but disappears as the idle increases. I haven't checked to see if the oil is draining out of the turbo but the oil level on the dipstick seems to be real high. I don't have quite 5ltrs in yet but maybe 4.5 in there. Good oil pressure though. But NO cooling yet.

Could there be a blocked oil galley.....is there a valve or pressure relief valve that hasn't popped or jammed from being not used for a few years? Motor could have sat longer than my 2 years of my conversion build etc.

Kai......Yes the stk JDM ECU......no diagnostics hooked up yet.

richbaker78.......I'm not positive but I don't think JDM has the immobilizer ?

I know your feeling well chuffed at getting to this stage.

I imagine that the sound your experiencing is a classic Subaru piston slap noise. Mine does it when it's cold until it's warmed up and then it's fine. The best way of describing the sound is that of agitator ball in a paint rattle can when its empty being shaken.

Get your diagnostics up and running. It's not complicated and will give you piece of mind that you've got the best part it running.

That sounds well knackered. The belt is clearly loose.

Hope you find something similar and easy. Have you not changed your cam belt yet? I'll be doing mine this year as its at least 4 years old. Practically zero miles too lol.

Here's what kind sounds like. I've also read that it may also be the aluminium pulley I've got installed rather then belt slap. Either way the thing goes well.
