1962 VW Beetle Ragtop / Subaru Impreza Turbo Engin Price: 4000
Up for a very reluctant sale (moved house)
My 1962 VW BEETLE Ragtop. Almost finished project
This car has unfortunately spend the last year in the garage after I moved to London and wanted to keep the vehicle in a safe garage out of the elements. I originally bought this car in immaculate condition but with a poorly engine only running on 3 cylinders, after much debate about what engine to go for I then saw some very successful projects housing a Subaru engine in a beetle, once I'd seen it I was hooked and it had to be the only destination for me.
The vehicle has undergone a lot of work, all of which carried out at TSR ENGINE CONVERSIONS (please check their website for their work) they really know what they're doing. All conversion work there was completed and I towed the car home to complete what was left myself, I then moved to London and the project never got finished, I've vowed to complete it until this house buy has forced its sale. All works listed below
IRS conversion for rear independent suspension
CB PERFORMANCE disc brakes front and rear
Kennedy adapter plate
230mm Lux performance clutch
6 rib bus gearbox rebuilt by COGBOX
1999 Subaru WRX Impreza turbo engine (from a purchased donor car)
Full wiring harness
High performance fuel pump and filter
Subaru chargecooler (to watercooler the turbo)
All above parts are fitted and the engine is in and mounted. To complete the job and drive the car it requires the installation of the fuel tank with fuel lines to engine, the installation of a reverse throttle bottle to regulate the accelerator, an exhaust can, fitting of the gear selector alignment fitting which is standard on a bug to bus gearbox conversion it's an easy fit... the listed bits to finish and the installation of the air filter and some top end engine components (MAF sensor etc...) all of which I have already purchased or have from the original engine.
I have driven this car on the road during the build and it was incredible ! the look on people's faces when the dump valve let's out air when you change gear or the turbo chatter whirls away on accelerating.... from a bug! Is very satisfying. After satisfied and everything was looking good the engine was stripped cleaned sand blasted and rebuilt with new seals and head gasket (this thing has 100000 miles trouble free motoring I was told! ) the engine is immaculate and gleaming. It just required some finishing off. Reverse throttle body, exhaust, fuel talk and fuel lines, fit pump and rad (purchased) to the charge cooler (fitted) fit gear linkage to gear box (purchased) and some too end parts like mad and air filter (purchased)
Call me to chat about this vehicle it will be an amazing bug that will cruise around happily at 20mph but then will also beat anything of the lights, fly down a quarter mile or just happily Express you around at 70 to 90mph no issues |
