Exhaust for subaru motor in bay van

Can anyone post pics of their exhaust for reference please?

cant really help you here but www.rjes.com used a t25 exhaust with some mods (albeit in a t25) but it may give you an idea for the bay....im planning to use bits from here...www.jetex.co.uk to build mine from scratch. BUt as I have a turbo it constrains me a bit on the pipe sizes and bends i can get away with! still where theres a will theres way.

This is what I did for an exhaust for my bay.. It's the originial subaru exhaust, but reversed, cut & rewelded. I just need a 100 degree or so bend to bring it round next to the rear bumper where the main silencer will be.

Obviously it's pretty ropey, but will do until I can get a custom one made.

Does anyone know where I can get exhaust gasket material in sheets so I can cut my own?

Any motor factors should be able to supply sheets of gasket paper.

The exhaust above looks like its just standard components welded together - not a custom bend in sight! I would be interested to know how much it cost though...

agreed - it looks nice but just welded sections. all those weolds kinda defeat the object of having stainless!

I bought a 1 5/8 header 'custom made' from TT for my last air cooled engine - and unfortunatly I wasnt very impressed for the money I paid. It had loads of pin holes in the welds which to be fair he offered to fix but by the time I would have bothered paying postage each way - ended up doing my self.

Also it seems reasonably well documented certainly for turbo Scoobs that messing with your header /up pipe has little benefit and its after the turbo that most gains for £ can be made. I suspect the same isnt true in this instance for NA engines but it may be worth investigating the gains before parting with the hard earned.

For turbos:
I got the impression that the manifold can give big increases when changed to equal length, but most people like to keep the burble which is entirely due to the unequal header design. Keeping the burble, I have heard that matchporting can give very good increases too and relatively easy to do
