|
|
Got a t25 2.1 wasserboxer. Need a new motor. What do I require to fit the golf GTi lump? Which is the easier to wire/plumb in?
Do i need the diesel bellhousing, engine mount, and starter and thats it? How easy is the conversion? Which engine is easiest to go for in terms of plumbing in injection and wiring etc?
Cheers

if you have a wasserboxer and are going to fit a gti motor you will need from diesel van:
sump 1.6 n/a is better as no turbo drain pipe to block
oil pump
both alloy engine mounting brackets on block
both rubber engine mounts
both engine craddle bars
flywheel
clutch
bellhousing with clutch opperating arm
front gearbox mounting
all rubber coolant hoses
main plastic hoses under van
of the top of my head thats about it but i warn you those bits second hand are worth more than a rough/mot failure diesel t25 complete van the easyiest gti motor to use is the digifant pb engine(electic injection) from mk2 gti 88-91 and early 90's passats avoid pf engine as it has a kat and is detuned for it.The mk2 golf gti has a seperate engine management loom that plugs in to the sensors and has 2x 2 pin plugs or 1x 5pin plug in the wiper scuttle area you only need to provide it a earth a ignition live and a permenant live for it to run it also has a switched earth output to run the fuel pump relay if you van is a 2.1 injection you are ok otherwise you will have to fit a injection tank the inlet manifold fouls the left chassis leg with the stock inlet you can use the 2.0 mk3 golf gti manifold this clears but you hav to cut the injector bosses of the manifold and have the holes alloy welded back up hope this helps |

in addition, fuel pump and a return into the tank?
i had a good search but the info was kinda sketchy

yes matey the bottom end is pretty much the same externally so the same list of bits. i wouldnt put a kr motor in though they are all revs and no torque and the braided fuel injection lines mean you are fixed to where the fuel injection components can mount, i would use a 2.0 abf engine more torque and efi so more flexiblity in component mounting location _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,
