sorry newbie here, hello everyone nice to find this place!
Im looking to convert my type 2 bay 72 standard 1600 to diesel for better fuel economy and reliability etc.
I was thinking of 1.9 tdi vw engine.
What is involved can someone point me to a basics page?
i presume main problems are the bellhousing adapter plates, sighting the rad, exhaust?
Im looking for the easiest most cost affective conversion, will consider anything.
many thanks in advance
Look on here for rads - under Kooling - Show us your rads - buses
JP, Famous Phil et all will be along shortly to answer your <ahem> dirty diesel questions
Be prepared to be shunned by purists tho'. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.
Your experiences are worth shed loads to others, including the f'ups - live and learn.
Wouldn't YOU rather learn by someone else's mistakes? So would they.
'78 Bay, 2 litre 091 box, EJ20 NA & the ashtray's on the 'right' side.
I don't lean forward for hills any more
Bugger, missed out on "Live fast, die young"
i think the peugeot conversion is a more trodden path than the VW tdi. in a bay. Get in touch with Famous phil - he can provide you with all you require. hes got an ad over on the right >
if you really want to stick with the VW TD then there are a few chaps on the brickyard doing AAZ? conversions in T25s (apparently this is quite a popular swop)
