Hi,

Got a t25 on the way on thursday. Good nick apart from a blown 1.9 motor so i am weighing up the pros/cons on a conversion.

I am swaying towards a pug conversion as ive been offered a N plate 309 1.9td for £100 with good motor.

Can anyone tell me what is involved, parts i will need from donor car and what other additional bits of kit i will need to source (pref with some idea of costs)?

The other option i was concidering is a 2.2 scooby coz it seems straight forward but ive already got a gas guzzler in the form of a 2ltr lawn mower so maybe its time to go diesel, only thing that puts me off is ive never had a diesel and know feck all about em, especially the turbo bit!!

Cheers,

Keith.

hi keith Happy very easy conversion ,,, turbo very simple ,,, you say you have chance of a peugeot 309 ? on an N plate ? if a 309 i'm sure it'll only be close to 1756cc ? there are a few about with that size engine ,,, and go realy well ,,, the 1.9 has a lttle bit more BHP but a good hike in torque ,, pretty much a bolt in conversion once you have the kit ,, parts from 309 glow plug relay ,, exhauste down pipe ,,, rear engine mount ,,,, engine wire's ( you can connect the wires up to the bus wires ok ) fuel filter housing ,,,, next batch of kits getting made very soon and the total should work out at £245
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, regards Phil

The 309 TD was a 1769cc that did not have an intercooler, and produced 78 BHP, as opposed to the 405 1769cc turbo (pre 93) which produced 92 BHP thanks to an intercooler. From 93 on the 405 went to 1905cc in turbo form but stayed at 92 BHP. The ZX and Zantias have always been 1905cc either with or without a turbo.
