R J Engineered Solutions - Latest News
Quality Subaru Powered VW Components

After running RJES part time for the last few years, it will be becoming my full time job before the end of July '07, as I've handed my notice in at my 11 year job at JCB as a design engineer.
I have many new product ideas to develop, and whilst I had a full time job too there was no way I was ever going to find the time to develop half of them. Watch this space (or rather www.rjes.com) for a massive increase in new product development and services including:

New Products Coming Soon:
Exhausts:
Exhausts for naturally aspirated Subaru engines are coming soon, fully stainless steel, and with better ground clearance than the standard VW systems. The ptototype is half made so far.....

Sumps:
My (long awaited) cast alloy Subaru sumps will be next, giving the ground clearance of a VW engine, and the oil capacity of a Subaru sump, they will also fit around the standard Subaru engine mounts.

Complete Kits:
The long term plan of having a complete kit of everything needed for a DIY Subaru conversion is getting nearer. This may include everything right down to hose clips and cable ties. I'm interested to hear people's opinions on this.....

Cooling systems:
Proven cooling systems for air cooled VW's, designed to be as 'bolt on' as possible, and guaranteed to cool up to a certain bhp without relying on fans all the time. There's a lot of development required for this, but it's the one area which people most often seem to get wrong, so hopefully it'll be worth it. Again, people's opinions on this would be interesting...

Engine Mounts:
Mounts for a wider range of VW's.....

Official Installers:
I will also be setting up some VW / specialist garages as 'official installers' of our products. This will enable those who don't want to do the install 'DIY' to get them installed by experienced professional, whilst keeping my time free to develop new products.

RJES Services:
Harness Work:
I will be taking on much more wiring harness work for Subaru conversions than has been possible before. This includes 'plug and play' T25 harnesses, fully wrapped in conduit, with correct branch lengths. Made by grafting your T25 engine harness too the engine circuit from the Subaru harness, they make the wiring as simple as it is possible to be, and come with instructions.

Product Development:
Got an idea for a product but don't know how to engineer or develop it or don't have the time, or need a special variation of a product we already make, etc? We may be interested in helping, either as a new RJES product, or as a design consultancy. Anything considered - it doesn't have to be VW or even car related, but it does help if it's something interesting!

New RJES Projects:
The RJES Syncro camper is getting a new engine - a 2.5 turbo which has done just 8000 miles from a Forester XT. This is basically a detuned US spec 2.5 STi engine, and can easily be tweaked back up to 300 bhp, if 230 gets boring (anyone got a stock of unwanted Syncro gearboxes!). It will probably be running on LPG. The camper will probably get rewired so they most of it's circuits are Subaru, not just the engine. Lots of other mods planned to make it handle the power increase better too. I some how suspect this could turn into a full restoration!

The RJES Syncro crew cab will be getting the 160 bhp 2.5 nat asp angine which is currently in the camper, and will converted to run on LPG via an OMVL multipoint LPG system.

Please check the web site occasionally for details of new products and services as they become available. Thanks for your support.

Nice one chap I think you should do well with the ever increasing interest in this conversion game.. definately good to get it up and going fall steam ahead now before someone else realises the $'s to be made from such a service.

Hope it all works out well

the V plate we spoke about and a way to lower the idle control valve on the early 2.0ltr turbo would be handy to get the engine higher in the body Wink
but all my best on the new venture and hope it all works out Grin
p.s ive done about 600miles so far on the turbo conversion so far and no probs at all with the new bits Grin

ill have to ring you soon cos ive forgotten what bits im taking to bugjam

Thanks for all the encouragement! No doubt see some of you at Bug Jam? I now have the first batch of cast stainless exhaust manifolds. Details will be on the web site soon. Ian - I'll bring your pair to Bug Jam.

Thanks,

Rich
