help, mods move if not acceptable here, input shaft help req

doing my fuckin head in now

i have changed the shaft and rescrewed it to the front shaft, but i cant get the gear muff to slide forward at all now...when i took it apart it came away really easy

the gear muff seems to be catching on the diff.

is there any way to resolve this other than taking the other side cover off and removing the diff


gearbox is still in the feckin car

i am just getting concerned that i might be damaging the diff or the muff gear

or should i have done it from the diff side in the first place????

can you unscrew it slightly to line up the splines?

tried but the muff gear is catching on the diff. i think this is the problem, i dont want to try and use a drift and tap the muff down the spline in case of damage. that is assuming the splines are lined up

done...finally

all back together now, just ned to put new bearing on the axle and then put the hubback on...then its engine in time!!!!!

Well done fella-I had exactly the same problem when doing mine-problem is I cant remember what I did!
