Now I know this is to do with insufficient air flow over the rads but........
What if I fit an oil cooling rad? Will this help lower engine temp in the first place so the water rads wont be needed quite so much?

It will reduce the load on the cooling system, but you will lose the other benefit of the heat exchanger which is to warm up the oil more quickly using the coolant temp...

So increased engine wear thru oil not reaching operating temp quickly enough? I was going to fit the oil cooler anyway to aid cooling during summer so I could always fit via a thermostat.
The main reason why I asked this question is I have a small amount of unused space next to my gearbox just right to fit an oil cooler and air scoop. I dont want to fit a scoop to the water rads as they are low and I dont want to start ploughing fields when I go camping  |

I think you know the real cause of the problem and surely it is better to fix that than know you will always have a marginal cooling system, expecially when you get the call of the turbo to make use of those brakes

mmmmm turbo i always used to think my ej2.2 was quick .but the answer is no,not even close

Yeah, I know I'm sure the call of the turbo motor will come soon enough
I'm going to do the right thing and sort it with a scoop. Already had a word with a mate who can hopefully create just the right thing for me. |
