Been a while.......... and nothings happened...

Missed all my deadlines so the wife had to bail me out and buy a car for the holiday.. Ford Galaxy TDI ( with the vw 115)

As usual nothing goes straight forward and about 900 miles into the journey while travelling through Austria we get engine problem.
Im tired and slow to twig, had a similar thing with an old work van. Car struggles to pull and sounds like it's running on three cylinders. Have to go down gears just to keep moving and starts shaking when i put my foot down.

Like a fool i keep going and limp the next 300 miles to destination..
After a sleep it dawns on me.. while going through the high altitude the air filter has got saturated and blocked the air flow... BINGO.
Only in pushing on ive smashed something as its still juddering and wobbling like a beast..
Wife says there's not enough in the pot to put it into a garage to find the fault and breakdown recovery is a no go..
So two weeks later i drive the beast back.. which was fun ..
Although the faster you went the better it ran.. Waved at the Hockenheim and the magical 'Ring' sign. And got real lucky at Dunkirk, mayhem but after being awake for 43 hours, 24 of those behind the wheel we made it home at 2am back holiday monday
LOl.. woke up the next day and couldnt move my left leg, i spent the next three days hobbling around on crutches...
Car now fixed, id mashed up the inner cv joint....

Kids now back at school, weather permitting and i can move my leg monday morning it's back to the bus..... The holiday is already booked for next year... Laugh Out Loud

Wow, even these modern cars can be troublesome.

next year with the van that is?

Good luck! If I was in the UK, I would be happy to help you. It just works better when you're not alone (at least that is my opinion)

Nothing to report on the bus front dude

I decided at 41 it was a good idea to take up downhill mountain biking.
First day at the local bike park , when i knew it was time to go home i went for one more run and jumped into a tree.. Cracked a rib and put myself out of action for three weeks Laugh Out Loud

I have managed to do a bit on the bus, but i need to get the lower beam arms machined back and a new lower shock bolt as it hits the end plates.
Then i can make some raised tubs before getting back to the diesel conversion... although i am worried the back wont be low enough now

..

Cant remember if i said before..... i have been making a 4" narrowed and just under 2" raised beam.. alot of work for next to no gain..

Hopefully should be able to get back on the bus this week... fingers crossed.

Oh Jp... her bloody Galaxy came from just outside of Skeggy.. ( and the steering rack popped a seal this week...grief... ) Laugh Out Loud

I have up DH when I was 18!!! It's a dangerous sport!!! Enduro cycling is kinda safer. Especially at your age Laugh Out Loud

that's where I'm at now and been riding for 16 years now. I mostly ride to give both me and the dog some exercise nowadays Grin

Chop chop and get to work on the bus!!! At this rate you'll be fighting a constant battle against the thing rusting away!!

After cycling 80 road miles back and forth this week i managed to produce this....

Yep cut three bits of cardboard Sad

... such a failure..

Today i nearly got the top bit re-created in steel, only the weather started getting nasty and i had to bike back..

Bit of DH on sunday so we'll see what happens next week Wink

Well this year has been a write off.

With all the crap weather at the beginning of the year, child illness and school holidays nothing really happened on the bodging metal front .

In total i managed two half days.. woah look at me go...

By the time i got to cutting and bending the side..

The main piece had some 'distinctive' markings ...

Then while out doing some of this

I managed to bugger up the rest of the year, by going over the bars and giving myself multiple spinal fractures, a buldge to one of the discs, three broken ribs and a hell of a lot of internal bruising... ( don't say i told you so Kai ...lol)
