Currently building a 1967 floorpan based sandrail, with 16v gti power.
Hopfully doing this by IRS-ing the back end, fitting a late bay gearbox with a T25 Diesel bellhousing, sump etc. I'd rather go this way than an adaptor plate 'cos a) its probably cheaper, and b) it angles the engine over to the left at 45 degrees, leaving plenty of room for a rad on the right!
Once its done, I'll be blatting it round the Nurburgring for the Scumball rally! _________________ www.coventryaircooled.co.uk
but don't let the name fool you - I drive a 1984 gti and a 1998 T4, both with 140bhp!

Project Ride : 1972 Devon Bay
Project Plans : it started out 24 months ago as a stock bay that had been sat for 10 years with zero interior, over the past 18 months I have fully kitted it out(just need to trim the rear seat now) after spending about 9 months welding it up renewing everything, so all the running gear is new pretty much! so with fuel price going up I thought i`d get something economic to go in, ending up with a 1.6 'D' engine and gearbox in exchange for some wheels. The diesel gearbox I'm just using the bellhousing from and fitting the the stock 1600 bay gearbox. First get the lump in and sorted, then think about maybe supercharging it or something to get some more pep out of it! _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!
