Coolant pipes

Yesterday a testdrive ended in a clowd of steam. I turned out that a hose was blown off:

The pipe I used was too smooth (I used drainage pipe). So, learn from my mistake and don't use smooth pipes.

You can prolly fix that.

What's the pipe made from? If it's chromed copper/brass etc.. remove the chrome with emery paper. Get some copper wire - thick electrical cable etc and wrap it tightly around the pipe to form a ring.
Apply some plumbers flux and solder it up, you now have a ridge.

Thanx for the tip, but I am going to bin them. The (I think brass) pipes have really thin walls, so I don't trust them. The reason I used them was because they were cheap! (yeah...I'm dutch... Grin

)

But then without the little bleed-pipe.

The threaded ends should give it enough grip. But maybe I will take your tip and use it on these things to give them an ridge.
I allready used these on the radiator side of the hoses.

These things are 10 euro's a piece...

Can you get curved ones? They're far better for flow and will last longer.
What diameter are they?

If you can find some in aluminium a decent car place or engineering company could roll you a swage in.

I couldn't find any curved ones.

I used the angled ones, and brazed (=soldered?) a ridge to it:

The one on the left is allready soldered, the one on the right not yet.

And installed & filled:

After quite a bit of km's it's still holding. Happy
