Ok, here's my set up
Astra SRi box (I think), a coupla bits of Jetex pipe etc. Ditched the centre clamp section as welded a straight on.
Too noisy at revs for my liking, shoved two bug tail pipes up there to keep it quiet for the MOT.
Box was £50, brand new from a local exhaust place. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

'78 Bay, 2 litre 091 box, EJ20 NA & the ashtray's on the 'right' side.
I don't lean forward for hills any more

This is my exhaust. It is an exhaust for an Alfa Romeo engine in a Beetle.
It's made of parts of the original Alfa manifold, a beetle spaghetti manifold, 4 elbows, a flexible piece and a motorcycle silencer. It's the first time I welded something, so up close is looks terrible....
The sound isn't too loud, but it isn't quiet either.

The only problem is it sounds like a light aircraft.

So when are you dumping that air-cooled lump for a water-cooled?

Finaly finished mine after a week of half days, alot of head scratching and a lot of cross member notching hear is my effort.
Down pipe
Midbox(s)
Rearbox
The main thing I wanted was to make the van quieter which it does considerably. All the parts were from jetex apart from two bends that I had custom bent. _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

OK, I'll blow the dust of this thread....
I am currently working on a rear disk brake conversion (read here: LINK ).
But a ran into a problem:
The back of the caliper is way to close to the exhaust (and this is with no brakepads in it...).
So, I have to change my exhaust. I am thinking about changing the motorcycle muffles to a conventional car one (see link for details about the current setup).
I am thinking VW Polo of Fiat Punto or something (remember, I have a 1.4).
I need a shorter muffler, do you guys got any recommendations? I want one that I can buy second hand, and one from a car common in Europe..
So, any ideas?
Oh yeah, it's for a 1973 beetle... _________________ homepage
