Made a ma-a-a-a-jor mistake yesterday (Yet another Wednesday...) when I was working with my Megasquirt setup. I had the processor curcuit card mounted to run some tests. I was giong to remove it to continue soldering components. I slip and lost the grip of the processor circuit, and bends almost half of the connectors and break one! Big poo!

After cleaning some blood (got a couple of connectors through my finger) I decided to solder the processor circuit directly to the mother board. To replace the broken connectors is simply not a solution. So, when soldering the last pieces to the board I really have to take it easy, the processor will be there forever now...

We'll not work with the bus tonight, instead we got a donor yesterday!
I already have the engine and was supposed to take parts from other cars, but I realized it's gonna be pretty messy to keep track of all the spare parts if they are from 200 different cars...
So I found this Legacy. A normal Swede would have wrecked it long time ago. This was an older man from Romania though, and he didn't wreck it. He sold it to me! Happy

I'll tell you, my girlfriend got really mad when I told her what I did. No wonder they always get to know the fun stories AFTER they've happened.
The car had no taxes payed.
Didn't pass the last MOT.
No insurance.
Summer tyres even though it was -8 C.
So I said to my friend to follow me to pick it up and tow it. The Romanian guy just said "no no no, no problem! You can drive it!". Ok, so I did. I had to go 30 km on a freeway and then another 40 km through the woods.
It was a not-so-great feeling when I realized that the car had absolutely NO BRAKES AT ALL! I was scared as hell.

Oh, did I tell you where I work? The Swedish Council for crime prevention...
Luckily, I'm just working here a couple more days. Grin

It went nice though, I'll have a week of holiday and then the poor car will be totally slaughtered. I think I'll save the engine too, a 2,2 litre that I can use as a spare part engine. Now I got everything I need and more of it. Started to think yesterday that A/C should be pretty cool in the bus...

Everything went really well today!
I drove the Legacy into the garage by 11 AM, and everything needed was removed by 3:30! Happy

We stripped everything from under the bonnet, and that includes taking the engine out to rip the clutch parts off and all spare parts from the engine - and then putting the engine back again. I even took the front seats and the brakes off. Unfortunately the right rear break was badly repaired, but on the other hand I think they are a little bit too small to get proper balance on the disk (front/rear ratio) so I think I'll get bigger rear parts anyway.

I've got some more rust to fix. The rear beam was repaired with rivets...
At least it will be easier to fix now when the heater system is gone.

Does the Eberspacher work? You'll get a pretty penny for that if it does Happy

Bear in mind you'll not have heating when the engine's off.

It's like the Eberspächer, but 25 years younger. It's a burner and a radial fan in a very compact format, I think this one is taken from a 90's Volvo. Really nice with the small format.
