welcome - im glad you made it here at last. Fantastic van and an inspriation to many...any watercooled plans for the Oval? I used to have a '55 and that 30hp engine was painfully slow.... |

Welcome to the "nut house"
Did you do it yourself?
I haven't seen a radiator set up like that before! But there again we all gearboxes in the way!
Do you use a scoop under the van to get cool air up to it?
Are the fans on most of the time?
Would love to see some photos of the gearbox & engine from underneath _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

I will make some engine/gearbox/suspension pics soon ...
I've did the conversion with my dad
Yes there is a scoop underneath the van ... Fans not running all the time ..
If you run +120MPH then they work , but engine temp stays fine ..
Rad & fans are from a subaru turbo
@ rich , yep still cruising around with the original 1200 30hp , but powered by a judson compressor 50hp but fast enough for my very low ovali
greets

Nice going Kev.
I did notice it was a Scooby turbo rad with the 2x twin speed fans.
120 mph before the fans start running - gotta see more of this cooling system. What was the outside temp for these conditions?
I think you owe your dad a beer or two _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

| In Belgium max temp in summer is approx 25°C , most of the time its between 12 & 20°C , if temp is under 20°C cooling may not be a problem. |

I am a bit about your bus it has early bay front, early bay rear lights but big vents ! ie not moon vents..
Have you changed the vents or the rear lights or is this another incarnation from the VW factory using bits up !
Have to say it is one sweet bus _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

JP its an early 71 , it was indeed with the T2B rear lights so we changed that ! I prefer the small T2a vents , but thes are bigger and more effective , so they stayed like they were ... |
