Suggestions for ECU Location

Can anybody help suggest a suitable location for my ECU. (T25)
Are people putting them in boxes or inside the van. Either way how do all the plugs thread through a suitably small hole, is it just a case of lots of sealer afterwards
This is where I'm at now.

MY loom has been fettled by RJES. But I can't decide where the ECU should end up. I had to walk away from it all a couple of weeks ago due to frustrations, cut hands, and bad weather. Been doing some interior stuff instead, but the sun is out and I want it running.

I dunno how long Rich leaves the wires, but can you bolt it internally under the rear seat. Inside the engine bay's a pretty hostile enviroment
Mine's (Bay) is in the spare wheel well, under a cupboard. Makes it a PITA to get access to the fuses & relays - but I don't have to get in there much.
Did you save a large Subaru grommet? I reused one from the loom

I know the feeling about cut hands & being pissed off - you're certainly not alone. Hang in there, you're gonna love it

Thanks for the swift reply. The loom is full length it just needs folding to length once I decide where to put things.
Unfortunately I haven't got any grommets the loom came to me already removed, which I know is why it is best to do the job yourself from the beggining, but too late now!

I leave the wires as long as they were in the Subaru. They vary a bit, but there is always enough to fit the ECU where VW put their injection ECU's (on the bottom left hand corner of the sloping panel umder the seat). Obviously you need quite a large hole to get the connectors through. About 50mm minimum. Either find a suitable grommet (you may be able to use a Suberu one if you still have them (superglue it back together). Another alternative is to fit proper edging strip or slit ribber hose around the hole to protect the harness from the sharp edge, and then pack the remaining space with closed cell foam.

For most installations this is probably the best location. If you have a camper interior, this can affact your options. Inside the wardrobe (if LHD) is a good location too.

i`ve fitted mine under the rear seat - its fixed inside a plastic junction box with all the other bits - diagnostics, chip, etc.

That should protect it from bumps, etc

if you check my thread in the kool rides section i`ll prob put a pic up tonight i think.
