vanfest alternative engine display anyone showing?

hi looking at vanfests website for show details and they are having a alternative engines display this year is anyone off vwkd (worlds greatest alternative engine swap forum) showing there van? im thinking of showing my split could be a good way of getting the lawn mower types thinking out of the box?

what about even sorting something with vanfest to get a vwkd forum spot in one of the halls with other alternative engine types? would be great advertising for the forum and might drum up some new people

well last year

i think there were 6 or 7 in the alt display two from a germany company that do conversions and 4 from vwkd

but its work talking to vanfest see if they will make it a vwkd.com sponsered display

Blimey talk of Vanfest already Grin

I'm sure there will be a few showing think we had 4 people last year from here showing (Alexfts, Ilzlee, Type2Subaru and Neil-C) they did a top job parading their Tee's/Stickers and handing out VWKD cards

Definitely be good to sort summut.. I'll need to know numbers so I can work out how many cookies I gotta make Grin

EDIT: Sponsorship ! sounds like they'll want some money for doing that ! something that VWKD has none of :violin:

Am I right in thinking you get free entry if you display your vehicle ?

Think we should definitely sort out a camping spot this year

vanfest website say's you just need to see marshalls to display a van at no cost but i might email them and ask them just be sure? it would be good to get a vwkd alternative engine line up at the show to put names to faces and show people what can be done to upgrade the economy and reliabilty of there own van to be able to afford to keep them on the road for many years to come with good cheap lawn mower engines running out and fuel prices increasing day by day.
does anyone fancy contacting vanfest about a club camping spot?

just been on vanfest website and emailed them about displaying van. there is also a link on the contact us section of there site for club camping does anyone (moderators?) fancy contacting them?

when i showed last year i got my (and my girlfriends) entry fee refunded at the end of the weekend so is well worth it. i have already emailed off asking to display - they said last year we my have a marquee to ourselves (alt engines)) as we are outgorwing the number of halls.

club camping is an interesting one - sure we have all seen the threads about carrying out risk assessments on our camping pitches, providinng our own extinguishers etc...
is it something we as vwkd want to get involved with? we were jammy last year with elusives brilliant buddies from crewe and nantwich tolerating our squatting (and the bottle!).

If we are going to commit to a club pitch we need to confirm numbers i think and get organising as many others already are!

I for one am definately going either in the van and displaying, or the gf's new beetle and our awning. Really want to go in the van, but have the slight task of learning to weld, carrying out replacement of o/s sill & seatbelt mounting and patchin of my front & rear beams (and thats just wht i can see!) and then the dreaded MOT before i can commit the van! Eeeek
