My personal preference is to use the lowest mileage engines I can get my hands on in my projects, but it's each to their own. I like my engines to look clean and new, but don't much like cleaning them. A couple of hundred quid extra for a lower mileage, cleaner engine seems like money well spent to me, but there is nothing wrong with an old EJ22, especially if you can find a low mileage one.
It always surprises me how many prople find EJ22's with under 80,000 miles on them. Considering they were only fitted to Legacies (up to 1996 in Europe), and that the Legacy is the kind of car you'd expect to be bought to do high mileages, they do seem to have done, on average, less miles than other equivalent cars. I think there is / was a big portion of buyers who buy them to cart their dogs around in, but never really go far. On the other hand, the general oppinion seems to be that EJ22's are nowhere near as easy to find as they used to be. _________________ Regards,

Beware of the wiring on JDM imports. At best it is a nightmare, at worst it couls be near impossible if someone's hacked the harnesses, or if you have an incomplete set of components. No documentation was published in English for JDM cars, and pretty much all of them are totally diferent spec to EDM. _________________ Regards,
