Ive been trying to tighten up the jubilee clips on the vw side of the plastic bypass and had lots of coolant leakage, took it off and measured the sizes for the vw pipes and found the rubber vw pipes to the heater were about 2mm larger ! I got round it by wrapping the two plastic bypass end with lots of tape . Job done but took a while to work out why it leaked so much !

I'm not aware of anyone else having problems because the hose sizes are not perfectly matched. In mine and the others I have worked on the VW hose seems to clamp down on to 5/8" fittings without problems. Nobody else has let me know if they have had problems anyway. The VW heater hose size seems to be 17 or 18mm. whatever size it is, it's not standard, so fittings (and the hose itself) are not readily available (only typically 1/2" (12mm), 5/8" (16mm), 3/4" (19mm), etc). _________________ Regards,
