Having finally decided i AM going to put scooby power in my Oval i am having difficulty in deciding WHICH engine to put in!!!! help

EJ20?
EJ22?
EJ25?

Turbo?
Non turbo?

Am i correct in assuming that EJ20 means a 2 litre engine and so on for the other types?

I realise putting a turbo in means more work but will the power gained with a turbo be a viable thing in my Oval?

With reference to the engine code numbers ie EJ20 what model car should i be looking for? Legacy etc

My main use for the car is gonna be basically, when the weather is good(not that often in Scotland) weekend and show use.Baring in mind for the likes of VW Action its a 1200 mile round trip for me.

I s'pose you could call this my mid-life crisis so i want a car with a really good amount of power in it,with all the work involved i wanna make sure i get the right engine!
Ideally i would like the car to still look like an Oval on the outside but be a different beastie on the inside.

Please accpet my apologies if any of the above seem like silly questions and i am sure you will have heard them all before, but i appreciate you taking the time out to answer them.

Thanks in advance for reading/replying it is greatly appreciated and your efforts will go a great way to helping me suss this out.

Cheers
Mario Grin

DOHC?
SOHC?

I guess it will depend on whats on the market and far you are prepared to travel for the motor.

I can't really comment as I'm still in the process of fitting mine but I'm sure someone will be along to convince you that its the ONLY way forward.

I guess you should ask yourself if you can live without a dump valve.

Nice bit of reading for you!

Best of luck with the conversion and do yourself a favour and buy the entire car Wink

depends how much you want to cut out of your oval too. turbo will mean cutting into the rear bulkhead for an intercooler/chargecooler.

spellbound, there is a Legacy GX2.2 (EJ22) for sale on here and Volkszone but it is in north london, it is MOT'd though.

You could tax it and drive it home and use it for your daily drive for a few weeks, service the engine etc, before you strip it down.

I would have it myself if it where not so close to christmas.
