ive heard of the 6 rib one but what other alternatives are there?
im gonna be using a turbo scooby lump.

im using the stock one,been through one already
so ive got a 6 rib for it.
ill wait till my lift is setup

From my experience it depends on how much work you are prepared for and how deep your pocket is.
As an alternative to the Vw bus box's you can also use Porsche units. Companies like bug@5spd make it very easy to fit a 901 and some bits for a 915. You also have the G50 which has been used in the past but I wouldn't take any of them on with the dillusion that's it's a weekend job.
A very nice easy solution is to get a built type one box if you want an easy bolt on solution.
Oh let's not forget about the quaiffe box's, I dunno what they are like but I would expect it to be magical what with the costs of one.

a few guys round here have used stock boxes
the last if ur gentle with them
but most of them break 3rd gear
a 6rib or any bus box for that matter in stock form has ratios all wrong for a bug unless u have 30" mud tires on the back
they can be re-ratiod though

doppleganger on here runs a stock 091 bus box in his drag car, which i believe tops out in the mid-high 130mph range in 4th... I'm guessing hes running about 26" tyres (Im sure I'll be told otherwise in a minute). so that wouldnt be totally unusable in a bug.
I'm running an 091 in my bug, but had all custom ratios set up when i had it built.
its far from easy/cheap to put a bus box in a bug though, if you want to actually run the shift rod in the tunnel then you'll need to change the intermediate housing and nosecone to one that berg make. thats a £500 job in itself. the other option is to run the shift rod above the tunnel like I've done - but then youll nbeed to fab up a box for the gearstick to sit on.

yes i did use a stock box for 2 yrs with 26" tyres then i broke it and had a box built by bears
