What Remote Thermostat Housing are you using?

I have a EG33 SVX motor going in my split bus and we are close to mocking up the radiator underneath in the belly and wondering what remote thermostat housing people are using or recommend that's affordable:)

I've never come across anyone using any kind of remote thermostat. I guess by the lack of replies, nobody else has either?

If you get it setup right, why bother? I've had no issues & judging by the lack of posts on here (or aussies, vanagons.net etc) nor has anyone else.

Subaru spent megabucks getting it right. *shrug*

People are/have done it, plenty of other threads around the web talking about it. Subaru spent money developing a front engined car with front mounted rad, clearly not what we have! The thermostat spacer idea is a half way house which should help.

To answer the original question, I'm using a BMW E30 external thermostat. The K series Elise is a pretty good equivalent situation where there are lots of variations of remote thermostat to solve problems of the original thermostat mounted at the return but even worse as it returns to the head!

I was looking at Landrover discovery one for mine

Thought I'd try the subi one first though and it's still there now working to perfection.
I don;t run a heater though which is probably why it works so well

I've got a heater i run full blast most of the time, especially when its freeeeeezing out. Along with metal coolant lines fully exposed under the car with the stock thermostat setup, i have not even once saw it get dangerously hot. Going up a hill holding it at high rpm it will creep up, the fan will come on, and it'll go right back down. I dunno what i have different, but the motor being in the back with the rad up front hasnt really had any effect that i can tell. It doesnt matter where the engine is, it's and engine it doesnt know where it is.
