NA Kick down switch

Sooo do the NA Subaru engines have a kick down switch?? Manual of course

In all the time I've been on this forum I've never read about a kick down switch. The reason I ask is that my Turbo engine has a kick down/ full throttle switch which was formally located on the accelerator pedal. I pulled my loom myself and remember removing the switch from the pedal and also I've seen the results of the switch in it's different positions.

Closed circuit it runs as expected

Open circuit it's clearly dumping more fuel into the engine, smells rich and runs rough whilst in idle and low rpm.

Although it's not labelled on my wiring diagram it's located @ B96 #11. This is on my four plug ecu from my 1995 wrx ej20.

I'm just curios as I've no heard of anybody else wiring one in nor ever mentioning one before.

Did you find anything else out about this switch?
I've also got the white/blue wire on my loom (B43 12 from the pcf you posted in another thread), what did you do with that in the end?

I never found anything else about it other then my own findings of the difference between open circuit and closed circuit.

I think it's usually called a wide open throttle (WOT) switch. I read about a guy using the switch to activate a supercharger he had retrofitted to his NA Subaru.

Currently mine is closed circuit and coiled up under the rear seat. I have every intention of hooking it up to my throttle pedal and getting it functioning as expected.

I recall the circuit being closed via the same circuit as the test connectors. I'll have a dog around and find out.

I might be making this up but am i correct in saying you both have the fifth injector in the middle of the inlet manifold? if so i'm sure i read somewhere about the fifth injector only being used when driving agressively.

Good call Ian, mine's definitely an RA with fifth injector! Although I'm not using an RA map so not sure if it will still work like that..

Kai: so was the switch a normally closed adn then opened at WOT?

Any luck with the extra white/blue wire? Another thread mentioned exhaust noise or chargecooler related items...

Ricola, check the post i made on VZi regarding the chargecooler. Does the RA version come with a chargecooler as standard then?

No I don't think so, it was only the RS legacy that came with the chargecooler as far as I know

Where is this wire mentioned? on what wiring diagram?
Are you using the standard RA ECU or a different one? If different what wiring diagram are you using? one that matches your harness or ECU?

The link in my last reply shows this white/blue wire and the Japanese translations mention chargecooler or exhaust noise. I've been using the excel file on vwrx.om as it matches pretty much everything except a missing drive for the fifth injector.

Ok i see, sorry for being stupid lol.
I'd leave it for now and see how it runs, see if it throws any fault codes.
