ello
im in the process of collecting all the bits i need to put a 1.9td into my late bay .
so far i have a mk3 golf that im stripping .
i have the engine out and am im going to get rid of the shell soon , is there anything i should keep ?
on the engine it the vaccum pipe for the servo egr and the turbo . what should i do with it ? as the pipe leaves the block for the servo it T's off into a very small hose through a switch and then to the egr and the turbo .
should i just blank the lot ?
Im going to remove the egr any way .
should i use a jx manifold or modd the orignal aaz ? been doing some reading on the net and there seems to be diffrent answers
if i am to modd the orignal one how much work is involed ?
engine support and garbox support .
as im going to be using a t25 derv bell housing on my gear box i need to cut away part of the body that supports the gear box . has anyone made a cradle type thing ?
I have the t25 engine mounts to. any pictures of cradles or support bars would be great
sorry about all the questions
thanks in advance |

gut the engine bay, you'd never know what you might need. I kept the engine mounts, the engine mount brackets, the bits off the engine subframe for the mounts, the airbox, the big rubber trunk to the airbox, the wiring loom, follow it to the fusebox and plug it out and pass it back into the engine bay, all the hoses, pipes, filters etc.
basically grab everything while you have it in front of you. You can always turf it all out later if you don't use it but to go buying parts individually later will work out expensive and you'll be kicking yourself for buying back something you threw out earlier... |

| oh, the conventional wisdom is that the 2.0 gearbox is a necessity and may even need to be coupled with taller tyres to make the most of the diesel conversion. 1600 box won't do very well in terms of high RPM and noise... |

I've just finished doing a similar job, aaz into late split. I used a donor golf and kept everything, it's amazing what bits n bobs you'll use as you progress. Keep as much as you can and scrap the shell.
There's loads of photos on this site of engine supports etc. have a look at mine, completed conversions. I used the golf mounts, mod'd and fitted to a custom cross member support.
Can't help with the vacuum take off, I had a very early golf and it didn't have one. _________________ PVH |
