Well the motor is gone/sold. Just have to undo some more little things for Dave(65type1) etc. in my club

....and the the EJ20T,intercooler ,MAF,ECU etc is already shipped and on its way. Pick it up Saturday.

Adapter plate has left Hecker Machine in Oregon yesterday.

I guess this will be the build thread!

Update:

-exhaust is all off.Those big cast clunky things are heavy and all that tin shrouding is nice to have off of there.
-oil pan off
-turbo TD04 is off to set aside and reuse
-primary exhaust tubes are ordered from Outfront Motorsports

Hey up, good to see your past the baby steps and making progress with your conversion.

Congratulations. Your doing the best thing for your bus. I've got an earlier ej20 in my notch and its awesome on the road. My engine conversion is complete its the rest of the car im still going at.

Have you Sussed out your coolant design yet? I recall you asking on the turbo coolant thread in the Subaru section to the forum. I've got a diagram made up, just needs a little finishing up on the labelling. But it's on it's way.

Ditch that intercooler! It's totally useless for your application Wink

My Dad got my bellmouth done. Turned out just the way I wanted 8)

Alsot got my turbo drain back from my Dad. I like it. Clean and simple. Now I can run an AN style off of it. Used to be a straight flared pipe coming off of it.

And.....

Got a couple more bits back from my miracle worker :wink:

Oil feed from block to turbo:

Coolant on block cut down and re-positioned for heater core delete(for now)

And another coolant mod on the back of the block (cut/shortened re-positioned etc)

Not a lot done but lengthened the crankcase vent to accommodate my oil pressure sensor and installed the rest of the cooling pipes back on after the welding was done. I bought the NPT oil gallery adapter from the dealer which was only $10.

Got some smaller little things taken care of. I saw a lot of guys flipping their coolant manifolds around so the outlet faces the front of the vehicle. At first I wasn't even going to take the intake off but seeing as though it won't be on the road this summer I think this will give it a cleaner look and more of a direct shot at the radiator. It's not really flipped but re-located.

Original way(below)

Aftermarket sender location on left 1/8NPT and the OEM coolant location on the right.

This hole will be blocked off (welded in the below pic)

I also was trying to get an AN fitting from my bulkhead to go from 3/8 to 5/16 for the fuel supply line and Coast Ind. was coming up empty and online so I cut off the original hard line and will get a 3/8 steel fitting tiged on there. This actually in the end is a nicer way for the fuel layout than I was going for. Originally it was coming in right near the return line above the intake manifold and kinda looked ugly.
