I guess if you live in Britain the idea of A/C seems like alot of work for the 3 days a year when its actually hot.

That said I have considered the AC idea but not for cooling the inside as such but more a cool box affair!

That would actually be pretty nice. To have a airconditioned coolbox.

I can't have aircon. Missus don't want it. A reliable engine with bit more hp was the ultimate thing I could do.

No power windows. No aircon. 'it's a 40 year old van, and it should remain like that!'

:-)

Saves some work for me

Pah, 40 year old van, no reason to add upgrades!

I have leather electric seats in my bay, I have never bothered to wire in the heated part though.

I thought about electric windows too, but just a bit much hassle considering how rarely the windows are open more than an inch.

I think another issue with A/c boils down to the extra radiator and the AC pipework, which if you installed say a golf engine in the engine bay with the all the radiators in a standard position and somehow could get them to cool properly, you'd still need longer AC hoses to get to the cabin.

The only time it would be really useful is when you have left your camper in the sun at a show your camping at and want to cool it down a little before going inside. Or like is suggested a 'Cool box' which because the AC system basically works like a normal house fridge you could probably make it work the same, although it would only run while the engine was running. Maybe then if you had a 12v thermo electric heat pump as found in cheap electric cool boxes could keep it cooler once it had been cooled properly so you didnt use so much battery juice.
