My new header tank

Well I was having loads of vapour locks in the heater matrix, sooooo......

This is from a Vauxhall Fronteria (10 quid from a breakers, including cap, bracket and hoses)


Inlet/outlet O/Ds are:
Rad expansion approx 9mm
Top inlet 13mm
Bottom outlet 20mm



I modified the standard bracket with a hammer and welded my old bracket to the bottom

Note for Scooby powered owners:
I've had to go 'flow through' as I was getting vapour in my matrix system - it's important not to get this with a Scooby. Having the rad lower than the engine can cause this to happen. The high spot has become the matrix line instead of the rad.

I'm running a reversed water manifold. This has a 16mm O/D pip welded onto it. I have now blanked of the Subaru matrix out of the water manifold. This pip is its 'replacement'
This pip is connected via the black hose (left hand side of photo)
The lower Samco hose (bottom left of shot) is the feed to my heater matrix from the header tank
The smaller blue hose is the expansion from the rad

ive changed min to this and trying it out now sems to be ok at the moment but the week end will tell

Fingers crossed for ya mate. Keep an eye on the water level as all those bubbles work their way out.
I might have a bit of a hangover on Sunday - keep the revs low when you get there
